Throughout the two days, participants gained hands-on experience with R programming, descriptive and inferential statistics, data visualization using ggplot2, transcriptomics data handling, and essential bioinformatics workflows using Bioconductor tools.
Participants reported a rating of 4.8/5 for overall quality and 4.6/5 for the practical coding sessions. With 100% of attendees expressing interest in future training, the workshop highlighted the increasing demand for coding and bioinformatics expertise in life science research.
🏆 Student Research Project Spotlight
Huge congratulations to Mahalakshmi on successfully completing her research project as a part of OmicsLogic Biomedical Data Science Research Program!
In her project, “Genomic Characterization of Somatic Variants in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer (EOC)”, Mahalakshmi explored genetic changes found in patients with advanced ovarian cancer. Her analysis identified several important genes that are frequently altered in this disease—such as TP53, DNMT3A, and FLT3—and highlighted how these genetic changes can impact key biological pathways involved in cancer development.
Excited to embark on a research journey like her?
The OmicsLogic Bioinformatics & Data Science Research Program offers young researchers and students an opportunity to explore and analyze omics datasets using cutting-edge bioinformatics tools and resources. Through a blend of structured online learning and personalized mentor guidance, participants gain the skills and support needed to design, execute, and complete a full bioinformatics research project in a domain of their interest.
